Got there a little late sat next to one of the festivals original founders Rita Cahill we talked about how the festival came about and she was very encouraging to submit my films for entry in the spring, I told her about my dad being a videographer. One of the topics was about getting tools for new media

Mia Quagllarello Community and Editorial Manager for You Tube said she just launched a site on You Tube two weeks ago called creator's corner where you can get tools and asked for the audience to check it out and give feedback. Another topic which was discussed was mentoring which Bryn Imagire of Pixar had some great stories about her grandmother and her teachers in school. The moderator Tiffany Shiain of Intl. Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences did a great job. The overall message was don't give up.

Tues. Oct. 13, 2009
Saint Misbehavin'
Great biography about the Poet, Clown, 60' Icon Wavy Gravy
It opened showing his house in Berkeley, CA then went back through his journey through the 60's he talked about being roomates with Bob Dylan and Living on The Hog Farm and feeding the people at Woodstock. Then it went into the travels with the merry pranksters and traveling through the middle east and India. The main message I got was about being in service to others and what the SEVA Foundation is doing in service for the vision impaired. More info. can be found at http://www.seva.org/site/PageServer

Wednesday October 14, 2009
Trimpkin
Biography about audio artist in Seattle, did a collaboration concert with the Kronos Quartet. Learned at an early age how to build musical instruments from wood and metal scraps, evolved into a audio installation artist his work can be seen at the Seattle Museum of Music. He has never been commercially recorded. During Q & A he was asked if he has seen the wi playstation he said "no he doesn't have time to play with games". Very Serious about his medium. Overall very entertaining.

Thursday October 15th 2009
Icons Among Us: Jazz in the Present Tense
Wonderful examination of Jazz today. Many artist emphasized staying in the now. One artist said there was nothing she had ever experienced in her career better than playing among her mentors at the Newport Jazz Festival. Being accepted as an artist in her arena was the best sensation so far in her career. Lots of interviews about where jazz came from and where it was going and improvising and being in now is what it is all about. Many references to the greats Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bird. Lots of footage of live performances. Very Entertaining

Welcome

Welcome to my blog.
